Baltic cruise - Tallinn
Pop quiz - tell me everything you know about Estonia. Prior to this trip, I don't think I could have even made up facts, that's how little I knew. Our boat stopped in the capital of Estonia, Tallinn, for an afternoon so we wandered around for a bit and then took - you guessed it - a walking tour!
Tallinn's medieval Old Town is known for being very well-preserved, so much so that it almost looked fake. When our massive cruise boat docked and we tourists made our way into the city on a quiet Sunday, it felt like we were on a movie set.
I found myself looking around at the architecture saying "oh wow" and "oh cool," not really knowing what I was looking, just feeling like I'd been transported into a different world. The walking tour was a must for this quick visit because the guide who was born and raised there gave us some great historical context and insights. I won't bore you with facts (that's what our podcast is for, expect by bore I mean delight), but we left Tallinn full of interesting tidbits. I think it would have been a cool place to stay the night and get to see more of what a regular day is like. I'd also love to check out other parts of Estonia. Their tourism site has some pretty majestic nature shots. And there's still a chance they're hiding dragons somewhere.
